Welcome  to Andrea's  Yoga School

I offer classes for all abilities throughout the week, as well as personal tuition.  The studio is conveniently located on the outskirts of St. Leonards and easily accessible via the main trunk roads and a bus stop is just around the corner.   It is a quiet and peaceful space, with sea views and a terrace.
Class sizes are limited to a maximum of eight students and the focus of my teaching is to help all participants to enjoy a very personal practice within the led classes.

About me
In January 2001 my daughter was 15 and she wanted to do Yoga.  I found myself going along to the first class as this seemed a preferable option to hanging around in a school canteen for 90 mins.
Little did I know that those 90mins would change my life, that I would find something so powerful, gentle, absorbing, stimulating, mysterious and challenging that continues to give me the most profound experiences of joy and delight and has also seen me through some of the darkest hours of my life.

After two years of classes with Maggie Davis and a lot of support and encouragement from her, I embarked on teacher training with Simon Low.  Simon has also become a dear, valued friend and he has entrusted me to work alongside him on the Yoga Academy teacher training course when I graduated in 2006.

Resilience to weather the storms of life
Strength to feel empowered
Flexibility to adapt to change, to be open to challenge and growth

The asana practice of working mindfully with the body, learning to listen, feel and respond to its needs, provides an environment that develops strength, flexibility and resilience on a very physical level.  It also has enormous healing potential as we learn to direct our attention and breath to where we hold pain, injury or trauma.

We discover the magnitude of the breath and the power it holds as we learn to harness its energy.  This may be as part of an asana practice or as a practice of breathing techniques on its own.

Yoga is wonderfully versatile to suit everybody & every body, no matter what age, level of fitness or gender.  It can have an amazing transformative quality that enhances our life experience, not only for ourselves but also those around us.

Yoga has been passed on us through the philosophical teachings that are non-dogmatic, non-religious but profound in their wisdom.  They have withstood the test of time.

As teachers we are honoured to pass on this tradition and help others access it by sharing from our own experience & understanding and the inspiration, support and teachings of others.

For each of us there will be a different motivation that brings us to the practice, all of equal value. For every one of us there is an infinite learning experience ahead and a lot to be discovered.
My training and assisting opportunities with Donna Farhi have been invaluable along my journey of discovery.  Donna has been a most generous teacher and mentor.  The two other main influences through teacher trainings have been Sarah Powers (Yin Yoga and Meditation) and Paul Grilley (Yoga Anatomy).
I was given the opportunity in my training with Simon and his faculty to develop a teaching style that is an expression of myself, my beliefs and life experience, underpinned by sound teachings and honouring the ancient traditions.
It is an ongoing development and a constant exploration and enquiry as to how we can adapt our practice to our needs so that it gives us a sense of resilience, strength and flexibility.
